Under a proper federal system, the state governments control their resources, control their economy, control their people, have their state police, generate their own revenue and pay tax to the central government. There is no such thing as federal government allocation to states every month under a true federalism. It is the states that federate the center, not the reverse as we currently have it in Nigeria.
It is time we put an end to this skewed, corrupt, unitary ‘feeding bottle’ system which we call federalism in Nigeria. It is a retrogressive system of government.
We believe that for Nigeria to make genuine progress, we must discard this skewed, flawed, corrupt, unitary ‘feeding bottle’ federalism and constitution that we currently practice and agree to restructure Nigeria into a competitive, efficient, productive, and locally driven True Fiscal Federalism where there will be justice, fairness and locally driven development among the federating states.
True Fiscal Federalism is the change Nigeria needs.
